Last updated: April 5, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Laurels ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including free visitors and paid subscribers.
2. Description of Service
Laurels is a verified professional profile platform for people who work in tech. The Service allows users to create a public profile, connect third-party integrations (such as GitHub), record or upload a video introduction, and embed their profile on external websites via a JavaScript widget.
3. Account Registration and Verification
To access paid features, you must create an account and complete identity verification. Verification is performed by matching the name on your payment card to the name on your profile. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your account information and for all activity under your account.
4. Subscription and Billing
Laurels offers monthly, annual, and two-year subscription plans. Subscriptions are billed in advance and are non-refundable except as required by law or as described in our refund policy. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
5. User Content
You retain ownership of all content you upload to Laurels, including profile information, images, and videos. By uploading content, you grant Laurels a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and distribute that content as part of the Service. You are solely responsible for ensuring your content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Service to: impersonate another person or entity; upload false or misleading credentials; scrape or harvest data from other users' profiles; attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service; or engage in any activity that violates applicable law.
7. Third-Party Integrations
The Service integrates with third-party platforms including GitHub, Cloudinary, and Stripe. Your use of those integrations is subject to the respective third-party terms of service. Laurels is not responsible for the availability or accuracy of third-party data.
8. Embeddable Widget
Laurels provides a JavaScript widget that can be embedded on external websites. By embedding the widget, site owners agree not to use it in a misleading or deceptive manner. Laurels reserves the right to disable the widget for any account that violates these terms.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your public profile will be removed and your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Laurels shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Montgomery County, Alabama.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Service. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
